Monday 28th March 2022

I initially had a call with Daisy to be briefed on my tasks and an insight of what Daisy does on a day to day basis including examples of her most recent work. The main projects I will be working are on a new build project in Brentwood a new build villa in Portugal and some interior design proposals for a property in Chelmsford.

Friday 1st April 2022

Daisy wanted me to create electrical CAD plans for the new build house in Brentwood. I found this interesting as I had never done this before, and I liked that I have learnt a new skill with AutoCAD.

Monday 4th April 2022

I started to create 3D models of the house in Brentwood, which I found so much fun! I love SketchUp and seeing a project come to life.

Tuesday 5th April 2022

I continued with the 3D models; I came across a challenging area of my model between a sloped ceiling to the eaves of the house but I was happy to overcome and learn a new skill to put into my place whilst developing my 3D models.

Wednesday 6th April 2022

Daisy wanted me to move onto a different project which was the villa in Portugal. I was so excited to start on this project, I had to create 3D model on SketchUp so then the clients can visualise the final outcome. The original drawings were produced by a Portuguese architect - I had the massive obstacle to re-plot the same drawings using our in-house drawing template by making sure the scale was correct to develop with on SketchUp.

This villa is not very small it took some time as I made sure everything was accurate for Daisy!

I continued with drawing up the final details for the villa by introducing the walls, doors and windows and completing the villa elements with the staircase and its landscape. So far I have thoroughly enjoyed working on this project. I feel that it has been my greatest achievement to date and hope to take the skillset I have learnt and take it to the next step in my future projects.

The final touches come into play by adding furniture. I had initially created mood board to propose the interiors and mood the villa. My main go to resource was Pinterest as it is easy to navigate and create virtual moodboards which I can theme into my design.

Following this, I went on to work on the new build house in Chelmsford. I started to build up the walls, add windows and doors to the house. I feel I’m gaining even more confidence with SketchUp with working on such different types of projects.

Monday 11th April 2022

Still working on the Chelmsford project! I have been making sure certain areas like the ceilings and roof are grouped. I then moved onto some design work and made some research online for interior accessories such as hexagon wall shelves in pastel colours.

I have also been working on the little girl’s bedroom so gathering bits for that such as: Bedding, cushions, throws, accessories, and rugs. I also made a mood board to vision what the space could potential look like.

Tuesday 12th April 2022

Daisy asked me to research into Grade Listed Buildings from the mid 20th Century era, particularly to the main living spaces for another ongoing Victorian property project. I started doing this by looking at the layout of the room, artwork, lighting, furniture etc. I created a mood board also to gather ideas together.

Wednesday 13th April 2022

I continued looking into Victorian living rooms and décor accessories. Daisy then asked me to look into a bedroom to design for a little boy. I needed to find a single bed which is an ottoman and then some nice blue bedding to match the theme of the room. I created a mood board to gather ideas together for that space.

Thursday 14th April 2022

Today was my last day of work experience with Daisy where I undertook my final task in assisting her propose some interior finishes for a property in Chelmsford. I had to research into all different types of furniture for each individual space and created a presentation document for each of the rooms in the house. These included the kitchen, dining room, living room, sitting room, terrace, daughters’ bedroom, sons’ bedroom, and the master suite. Daisy arranged a meeting at the end of the day for me to show her the work I had done which she was extremely happy which she took on board to produce the final interior proposals.

Overall, I really enjoyed my work experience with Daisy. I have learnt new skills such as producing Electrical plans on AutoCAD. I have also got a lot more confident with SketchUp. Although working on 3 projects simultaenously was challenging, I found them to be fun jumping from one task to another and also feel that my multitasking skills have become better.
